2. Defensive Tackle: Devonta Davis, Jackson State University

Devonta Davis is a dominant force on the defensive line. Which is shocking that he did not make the All- SWAC First Defensive Team knowing his agility and force he brought to the 2022 season. Known for his incredible strength and quickness off the snap, Davis has a knack for disrupting the opposing team's game plan. His ability to penetrate the offensive line and create havoc in the backfield can completely change the momentum of a game. He finished 2022 with 21 sacks (nine solo) with 2.0 sacks, 4.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback hits, and one forced fumble. With the ability to stretch the field vertically and make difficult catches in traffic, Sheread combined with his QB’s strong arm has the potential to be a game-changer. His elusiveness and precise route running make him a nightmare for opposing defensive backs, as he consistently finds ways to create separation and make big plays. Sheread is stepping into the starter role this season and is excited to get to show the SWAC what he is made of. He finished the 2022 season with 585 receiving yards and 3 TDs.

4. Running Back: Jarveon Howard, Alcorn State

With his ability to consistently move the chains and break long runs, Howard will undoubtedly be a standout player to watch in the SWAC conference this year.
