Black Sports Business Symposium💫

Hey Crew!

I had the amazing opportunity to attend the Black Sports Business Symposium representing none other than Pretty Girls Love Sports! 💫

This symposium was invite only and powered by: ESPN. I took away some major lessons and gems to apply to this brand/ business but overall it was confirmation that THIS is a needed space and I am exactly where I am meant to be! I wanted to share two major lessons that I learned from the symposium as that is what I do!

Lesson 1: No one will advocate or believe in you as much as you believe in yourself! Now, I know this sounds so cliche but it is true, and it is often forgotten. To be honest with you when I went to this symposium I was feeling deflated. I questioned whether I was meant to do this, if I was in the right place, if my vision was even possible. Yet, I went anyways because I was accepted, and I NEEDED a boost of energy. I needed something to resonate with me to let me know that taking this leap of faith was the right thing to do. I honestly left more inspired then I was going in. I often have big ideas with littleneck up support and let me tell you- you do not need it as long as you are believing in yourself. Your vision will not be the same as someone else’s. Your drive will not be the same as someone else’s, and that is okay. You have to believe in YOU! You have to do all you can to assure you are making the strides you need to for your business. Do not let someone belittle your dreams as they can never do something that is strictly meant for you.

Lesson 2: Networking is powerful when done right. Often we are told to network with people but we think that is just talking to people. Although, that is true- networking can be more than a talking. It is often a pitch, a connection, and figuring out what you offer to a person as they offer to you. Networking properly can set you up for further success. I can personally attest to this because I networked the right way and now I am apart of a team that has voices of all sorts. I am a part of a group that believes in the betterment of each other, the success of each other, and the love of sports. I am in a group that is geared towards growth and teaching each other because the best way to go up is through learning and leverage. I have been able to elevate myself through this group as well as teach this group. This group is now my family and support system. This is what happens when you network with a vision and with a purpose.

This symposium allowed me to find my voice when I thought I did not have one. It also pointed out my Opportunity for growth and highlighted my strengths in my process. Going to this was a great decision and I hope to continue to leverage my knowledge into powerful movement.

Crew always remember to believe in you and shoot for the stars even when they feel out of reach. Thank you for such an awesome experience @blacksportsbiz !
